The function


The Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center Maastricht is the global escalation entity for parts in the Mercedes-Benz logistics chain The supported entities consist of the Mercedes-Benz local headquarters general distributors and logistic centers Furthermore the Logistic Service Representative role is to liaise with internal and external partners for resolving complex issues

This book focuses on the spatial distribution of landslide hazards of the Darjeeling Himalayas. Knowledge driven methods and statistical techniques such as frequency ratio model (FRM), information value model (IVM), logistic regression model (LRM), index overlay model (IOM), certainty factor model (CFM), analytical hierarchy process (AHP), artificial neural network model (ANN), and fuzzy logic have been adopted to identify landslide susceptibility. In addition, a comparison between various statistical models were made using success rate cure (SRC) and it was found that artificial neural network model (ANN), certainty factor model (CFM) and frequency ratio based fuzzy logic approach are the most reliable statistical techniques in the assessment and prediction of landslide susceptibility in the Darjeeling Himalayas. The study identified very high, high, moderate, low and very low landslide susceptibility locations to take site-specific management options as well as to ensure developmental activities in theDarjeeling Himalayas. Particular attention is given to the assessment of various geomorphic, geotectonic and geohydrologic attributes that help to understand the role of different factors and corresponding classes in landslides, to apply different models, and to monitor and predict landslides. The causes, mechanisms and types of landslides and their destructive character are elaborated in the book. The theory of nonlinear dynamical systems enjoys a tremendous development since the 1960s. It contains the mathematics of deterministic systems like planetary motion, population dynamics, economic development, and climate evolution. One of the central concepts is that of `chaos', a property of certain deterministic motions that amounts to unpredictability in the long run. In chaotic systems this occurs in a significant way. Examples of chaos are met in weather and climate prediction, the evolution of bird influenza, but also in the planetary motion or in simple systems like two coupled pendula. Another type of motion is called multi-periodic, that also occurs quite regularly; these phenomena often occur upon transition from order to chaos. This type of motion occurs in many mechanical models, but also in more `dissipative' systems. Using both multi-periodicity and chaos we describe a coherent background of the Hopf-Landau-Lifschitz-Ruelle-Takens scenario for the onset of turbulence. One other theme of the book is the reconstruction of the dynamics from a long time series, which has led to early warning systems in chemical reactors. Dynamical Systems and Chaos sketches the corresponding theory in a broad perspective, with a great number of examples illustrating the material throughout the text. Many of these, such as the Smale horseshoe, the Lorenz attractor, and the Logistic system, have been paradigmatic over the last half century.
